Question that message

"'But you may wonder, ‘How will we know whether or not a prophecy is from the LORD?’ If the prophet speaks in the LORD’s name but his prediction does not happen or come true, you will know that the LORD did not give that message. That prophet has spoken without my authority and need not be feared." Deuteronomy 18:21,22 NLT

Three days in a row this week I checked the weather forecast right before going to bed as I normally do, and then laid out clothes for my early morning run based on those predictions. And for three days in a row, the weatherman’s words have proven to be false. In fact, two of the reported forecasts weren't even remotely close to what was stated as likely to happen. I guess that goes to show that you and I shouldn't believe anything someone says until we see it.

And you know, the same is true of people who claim to have "predictions" or messages from God - you and I shouldn't believe what they say until we see it. You see, throughout history people have claimed to speak "in the Lord's name" and have led others astray by their false revelations. Which is why you and I are given the warning to wait and watch to see if a persons "prediction does not happen or come true," before declaring it to be truth. Better yet though, you and I should always check their words against the Word. If it doesn't align with the Bible, we can know instantly and without a doubt that the "prediction" is completely false.

So be on guard my friend. Many people will come "in the Lord's name" telling us things they declare to be truth. And if we aren't careful to question "that message" and search the Word for the real Truth, you and I might be led astray as well.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the reminder that there are many false prophets and deceivers in this world that claim to speak Your words but are really speaking their own. Help us to understand just how dangerous it is for a christian to believe these lies that we might be ever vigilant to check all messages against the Word. It's in your precious name we pray Jesus. Amen.

Happy Running!!!
