nature

since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.  For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.  Romans 1:19-20

I wonder, sometimes, how people can look at this world and not believe that God created it.  I'm not a huge fan of art, but, I can tell you that I have never seen a painting or creation that can compare with the landscape God has formed.  With all man's knowledge, we can never make a rainbow or make the night light up with blasts of lightning.  'We can never make an ocean surge or cause a bird to sing.  We can not cause the sun to shine or hide it to bring us the night.  And we can not slow down or speed up time.

For me, running allows me to see, smell and experience things this loud and busy world has no time for.  It allows for more intense communion with Jesus by removing the world's distractions, if only for a bit.   The slow and steady breathing as each foot hits the ground.  The slight sound as the wind moves my hair.  Or the sounds of the pebbles grinding beneath my feet on the trail.  It's when all is quiet that I can hear him in the rustling of the leaves or the stillness of a cold snowy day.  Or feel Him in the wind or in the raindrops of a spring shower.

Today, as I ran, in the cold winter morning breathing in the scent of fireplaces burning, I couldn't help smiling.  If God can make this world so full of beauty, what must heaven be like?   I certainly can't wait to find out.
