None of it is by accident

"Remember the things I have done in the past. For I alone am God! I am God, and there is none like me. Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish." Isaiah 46:9-10 NLT

Just in time for yesterday's Global Running Day, Runners World magazine reported that Jim Gavin, 66, had covered the "Distance Around the World" while pushing his 36-year-old son, Jimmy, in a Team Hoyt racing chair. Jimmy, who was the 4th person in the U.S. to be diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome, absolutely loves being outside and on the move with his dad. And although he is entirely dependent on his parents for care, Jim said, “He’s a gift from God... walking really has intensified the bond between us.” And boy do they do a lot of walking! The pair have been logging double digit miles daily for more than four years. With their goal now reached, Jim said, "We came about this all by accident... Now, that’s the end of it, and we’re just gonna keep going together.” Do you just love this story or what?

But you know, Jim and Jimmy didn't come about any of it 'by accident' because with God there are no accidents. You see, the Bible tells us that God is sovereign. He knows our future before it even happens and everything He plans comes to pass. That means there are no random occurrences. It's no accident then that you are where you are right now - in the family you're in, the job you're in, the place where you live, or even the time period you’re living in. The Lord purposes everything for our good and for His glory - even those things that appear to be random.

So no matter where you might be today or what you might be facing, remember that you didn't come about any of it 'by accident.' You're right where you're supposed to be at the exact time you're supposed to be there to do the very thing God supposed you to do. Do you just love that or what?

Heavenly Father, thank You for being a God that we can always trust. You knew our end before we had a beginning and for that we can trust You with our present. Help us to remember that there are no accidents so we would seek out our purpose in every situation. Embolden us Lord to be a light in this dark world at a time when it is so desperately needed. It's in your precious name we pray Jesus. Amen.

Happy Running!!!
