Stay committed

"Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk, not as unwise but as wise," Ephesians 5:15 BSB

“If you would have told me seven years ago I’d be running marathons today, I wouldn’t have believed you,” Stephanie Andre, a 36-year-old mom who recently qualified for the 2020 Olympic Marathon Trials, told Runner’s World. You see, seven years ago Andre was a smoker living a sedentary lifestyle. But when her sister, Sara, decided to train for a marathon, Stephanie watched. “I was skeptical that she’d follow through with it,” said Andre. But Sara stayed committed and followed through with her training, inspiring Stephanie to sign up as well - a decision that changed the course of Stephanie's life.

And you know, when it comes to inspiring others to make the decision to follow Jesus, a choice that would totally change the course of their lives, we would do well to remember that people, especially non-believers, are always watching the way we live, looking to see if we are truly committed to the faith we profess to have. Which is why Paul urged us to "pay careful attention" to how we walk and to act wisely in word and deed - taking every precaution to follow Jesus without wavering, compromising, or backing down that others would be persuaded and influenced to follow our lead.

So today may you and I, knowing the influence living a godly life has on the world around us, renew our commitment to following the Lord and wholeheartedly serving Him so that others might make the decision to do the same.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the reminder that the way we live has a profound impact on how we influence unbelievers. Help us to be so steadfast in our desire to walk righteously that we would commit ourselves to reading our Bibles daily that we would learn your precepts and follow them. It's in your precious name we pray Jesus. Amen.

Happy Running!!!
