You choose

"For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God's wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ." Romans 5:17

When it comes to race shirts, there's always a bit of controversy amidst runners as whether to wear the shirt during the race or wait until after. For many, it comes back to the unwritten rule to never wear something new on race day. But for others, it's the belief that you shouldn't wear it until you've earned it. Whatever your opinion is on that debate, one thing both sides have in common is that the shirt is theirs to do with whatever they wish.

Scripture tells us of something far greater than a race shirt, something given to all who choose to receive it and something that could never be earned. Romans 5:17 says, "But even greater is God's wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death.." This "gift" is yours to do with whatever you wish. You can choose to claim it and live in victory over sin and death, conquering, defeating and overcoming it, or you can reject the "gift" and live a defeated life in slavery to sin and the death it brings. The choice is entirely yours.

So what will your decision be today? There's no middle ground because as G.K. Chesterton wisely wrote, "The issue is now clear. It is between light and darkness and everyone must choose his side."

Heavenly Father, thank you for offering us the priceless gift of righteousness, something we could never earn ourselves no matter how hard we try. Thank you for your grace offered by Jesus Christ that allows us to conquer sin and death and gives us eternal life with you. I pray that those who have not made the decision to accept your "gift" would choose to do so today and enter into your rest. It's in your precious name we pray, Jesus. Amen.

Happy Running!!!
