Handle it rightly

"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15

At the Austin Marathon on February 26, Chandi Moore of Austin, TX,  won the women’s race in 3:02:17, a 30-minute personal record. Considering this was only her second marathon,  I'm sure she will get even faster. What she attributed to her drastic improvement was the decision to train with a GPS watch, "The second I put that watch on and started being told what my mile pace was, it changed everything for me." By using the watch, the truth was indeed revealed- she had not been training at her very best and was capable of so much more.

Speaking of truth revealed, 2 Timothy 2:15 says, "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth." Paul was instructing us that to do our very best "as one approved" requires that we train in the Word diligently and daily. That means reading and understanding scripture so well that we would be considered "rightly handling the word of truth".

Did you know that God will ultimately examine what kind of workers we have been? So today, and every day, may you and I strive to do our best as we allow the truth to reveal the extent of our efforts.

Heavenly Father, thank you for your Word that serves as our guide and the ultimate authority on which to gauge our progress as approved workers. May we train in it daily, always striving to learn more, that we might rightly handle the truth and be unashamed of our use of it and explanation of it to others. It's in your precious name we pray, Jesus. Amen.

Happy Running!!!

Well done - Moriah Peters
