Don't believe the lies
"But the LORD said to Samuel, "Don't judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The LORD doesn't see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7
The devil is such a deceiver! John 8:44 says, "He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies." He is the father of lies and there is absolutely no truth in him-NONE. So why do so many people believe the junk he whispers into their ear or proclaims loudly through another person? He likes to remind people of their faults and their past sins and tell them Jesus could never forgive them. He loves telling people that they're ugly, fat, worthless and that no one could ever possibly love them. Nothing could be further from the truth! Psalm 139:14 tells us that we are "fearfully and wonderfully made" and 1 John 3:1 says, "See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!". Could it be that so many people believe these lies because they don't know the truth? The truth is only found in one place-the bible.
When you don't know the Truth, it's impossible to recognize lies. The devil is counting on this-he's betting on people staying in the dark. Bibles were not meant to be put on a shelf. It's time to fight back! God gives us many defensive weapons (to defend against attacks) but only one offensive weapon (to fight attacks) and that is the Sword of the Spirit-the Word of God. Ephesians 6:17 says, "Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."
It's time to stop believing the lies and time to live in the power of Jesus-with the peace He designed us all to have. Don't spend the rest of your life believing the things Satan is telling you. John 3:16 tells us that God loves us so much, "that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." and Romans 5:8 says, "but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us". And here's the best part, "The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing." Zephaniah 3:17. Now does this sound like a God who doesn't love us, who didn't make you special with something to offer or would condemn us to a life of misery? He loves us... he loves you. He wants to show you that love through His Word. Open up your bible and get to know Him. Get to know His truth so you can stop believing the lies and be the person He designed you to be.
Heavenly Father, thank you for loving us in spite of our lack of faith. Help us to fight back when the devil tries telling us that we are worthless. Remind us of Your truth and give us strength. Give us a determination to learn the Word and give us discernment to identify the lies of Satan. May we rest in your Presence and find shelter in You. In Your precious name we pray Jesus, Amen.
