We need God

"The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples made by human hands. Nor is He served by human hands, as if He needed anything, because He Himself gives all men life and breath and everything else." Acts 17:24-25 BSB

Hundreds of Thousands of Women Gather to 'Cry Out' to God | CBN News

In an article posted Saturday by the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Mark Gauert wrote, "Some of us haven’t done this for a while. We set off running in shoes we haven’t worn in years. We mount up bikes we haven’t tightened or greased since the kids were little. We skateboard and rollerblade and walk in circles and circles around the neighborhood. Our own personal tracks, velodromes, cross-training circuits are crowded now with all the others who haven’t done this for a while. The schools are closed. The parks are closed. The movies and bars and all the other things that gave us good reasons not to get out and exercise are gone, too. We have no excuses now. And we do need the exercise, experts say. More now than ever to keep up our health, our morale, our immunity."

But do you know what we really need now more than ever? God. That's nothing new though. We have always needed God. In fact, the Bible tells us that, "He Himself gives all men life and breath and everything else." That means everything we have comes from God - our homes, our health, our money, our cars, our families, our friends, our food, our jobs, our hobbies, and even our very lives. Not to mention the fact that salvation is found in no other Name. And yet for so many people around the world, it took being stripped of nearly all of those things to realize and acknowledge their need for God.

So while I hope the COVID-19 pandemic has either caused you to realize your need for God or to rediscover it, I pray it will not end when life returns to 'normal' my friend. Because, as pastor Jack Hyles wrote, "We need God as much in the calm as in the storm."

Heavenly Father, thank You for meeting our every need. Help us to realize that all we have and all we are is because of your undeserved grace in our lives. We are nothing without You Lord and can do nothing without You. When we were dead in our sin, only You could save us. May we never lose sight of the realization that we need You. It's in your precious name we pray Jesus. Amen.

Happy Running!!!
