We were not created to be mediocre

"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." 1 Peter 2:9 NIV

London Marathon start times and how many runners are taking part ...

Runner's World Magazine
recently raised the question, "When might racing return, and what will it look like?" The short answer, they went on to say, to that and other related questions was: Nobody knows. What's "normal" during this pandemic changes almost daily, including the ever-growing pileup of canceled or postponed races. “At first, it was, ‘I hope races come back by June,’” says Bill Teschek, manager of Granite State Race Services, about conversations with other race workers. “Then it was July, then August. It seems like the longer it goes on, the more pessimistic everybody gets.” Small events could be held this summer, but normalcy is likely a long way away. At some point, however, racing will return.

And you know, runners aren't the only ones who want things to go back to "normal" right now, millions of people around the world are wishing for  “normalcy” to return. But you know what? I'm not one of those people. In fact, if the definition of normal is usual, average or typical, I don't ever want to be normal nor do I want normalcy to ever return. I want this time of reflection instead to have inspired me and every other believer to live as the "chosen people" God has called us to be. You see, being chosen means you and I were selected as the best. That means God handpicked us to be called His "special possession." Is that crazy or what?? That also means that you and I aren't average at all! And our lives should show that.

So let me ask you this... do you want life to return to "normal"? I sure hope not my friend. Because we, as believers, were made to shine super bright in a dark world that we might lead the lost to the foot of the Cross. And we can only do this by being anything but usual.

Heavenly Father, thank You for this time of reflection where the world was quieted so that we could hear your voice. Remind us that we are sons and daughters of the King and were made to be anything but ordinary. Fill us Lord with a passion to grow in our walk with You every day and a boldness to share the Gospel with a world that so desperately needs to hear it. It's in your precious name we pray Jesus. Amen.

Happy Running!!!
