Erase those records

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. " 1 Corinthians 3:4,5

One quick search of your name on Google and you can no doubt pull up most, if not all, of your recorded race times. In fact, you can find your PR, aka Personal Record, for most any event with a few simple swipes of the screen. And while keeping and recalling records is nice if you're feeling nostalgic or trying to reach a goal, having a permanent record of our actions is not always a good thing. Especially when it comes to sin.

The fact is we've all sinned and have hurt other people or have been hurt ourselves because of it. Hurtful words or actions done by us or to us can ruin friendships and families. But it doesn't have to be that way. 1 Corinthians 4:5 tells us that love "keeps no record of wrongs." and 1 Peter 4:8 commands us to "love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins." When we follow the example of Christ in our relationships, we will love others and keep no record of wrongs against them... ever.

So maybe today there's someone you need to forgive for something they've said or done? Or maybe you're the one looking back at old records of wrongs unwilling to delete them from memory? One thing is certain, when it comes to our ultimate goal of a PR, meaning a Personal Relationship with Christ, we must forgive and wipe the record clean.

Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us the perfect example of what it means to love and forgive others. Jesus did nothing wrong and yet forgave us of all our sins and loved us anyway. May we show that same love and forgiveness to others that the body of Christ may be strong and that, as individuals we have the ultimate Personal Relationship with Jesus Christ. It's in your precious name we pray, Jesus. Amen.

Happy Running!!!
