Rejoice, pray, give thanks...repeat.

"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:16

A mile is a unit of length most commonly equivalent to 5,280 feet, 1,760 yards or 1,609 Kilometers. By that definition a mile is a mile right? Covering the same distance should require the same effort each time then right? Unfortunately, that isn't the case. All miles are not created equally. Running in the snow yesterday morning required way more effort than the previous one done on flat concrete. And running a mile of hills and trails is probably less appealing than an easy run on a treadmill for most.

Similarly, following Christ will not always be an easy road to travel and many people will simply give up when the course gets difficult or the conditions uncomfortable. 2 Timothy 3:12 tells us that, "everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution." and Acts 14:22 says, "We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,". Simply put, all followers of Jesus will experience troubles, suffering and pain. It's no wonder then that we can sometimes get discouraged.

So what do you do when you feel like giving up? When you don't think you can take another step? You use the bibles three step plan: Rejoice, Pray and Give Thanks. The hardest battles aren't fought and won on a battlefield but on our knees. So don't back down, bail out or bow down under the pressures of this world but, "be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power." Ephesians 6:10

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us the strength to persevere when we are weak. Please comfort us with your presence and fill us with your power so we may be more than conquerors. So that we may be strong Christians, unable to be silenced, changing the world every day. In your precious name we pray, Jesus. Amen.

Happy Running!!!
