People get ready

“Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door." Matthew 24:32-33

The calendar says that winter isn't supposed to arrive until December 21st. And isn't the first snow supposed to come after Thanksgiving? Wow! If you were not watching the signs or the forecast you could have really been caught unprepared. As a runner, you are probably used to looking at the forecast often to plan your running route, time and clothing. After all, we have to be ready for anything that nature may throw at us right? But what about other signs? What about being ready for the return of Jesus?

The bible tells us that no one, except for the Father, knows when that time will be. And it warns us to be ready at all times. Matthew 24:38-40 says, "For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man." Although the bible tells us about many of the things that will occur prior to Jesus' return, it does not give us a time or date. Throughout history people have tried to decipher the clues so they would know when to be ready. That's pretty risky if you're waiting for the "right time" to follow Christ. Jesus goes on to warn us to, "“keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him." v. 42-44

Being unprepared for the weather may just leave us cold or with a case of frostbite at best. But being unprepared for the return of Jesus may leave you left behind, "Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left." v. 40-41. This is the one race you don't want to miss! Make sure you're ready. If you haven't accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, please don't wait any longer. Simply pray this prayer: Heavenly Father, I know I'm a sinner in need of salvation. I believe that you died on the cross to save me from my sins and that you rose from the dead. I repent of my sins and ask that you come into my heart and be my personal savior. Forgive me Lord for the way I have lived and guide me through my remaining days. In your precious name we pray Jesus, Amen.

Lord, thank You for all those who prayed that prayer. I pray that we would all feel a sense of urgency to warn others others of the consequences of putting off the decision to follow you. Help us to boldly proclaim the truth each and every day. In your most precious name we pray Jesus, Amen.

Happy Running!!!
