Make it a priority

"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Matthew 6:33 ESV

Sarah Bishop, 35, was the first female to cross the finish line of the Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday with a time of 2:45:07 prompting the headline, Marathon-Winning Mom of Four Busts the “No Time” Myth. Sarah is indeed a woman with little time to spare. Not only is she a full-time wife and Mother to four children (7, 5, and twins who turn 4 next week), she works a demanding full-time job while logging 80-mile weeks. And while she admits that fitting in her workouts can be challenging, she said, "You make time for what’s really important to you. And if you really want to get something done, you find a way. When I started prioritizing running and making time for me, I found a way to fit it in."

You know, she's right. You and I will always find ways to "fit in" those things that we consider important. But there's one thing that we should never try to "fit in" and that's spending time with the Father. It should be a priority above all else and something not to be rushed through. In fact, the Bible is very clear that we should "seek first the Kingdom of God", not when we can fit it into our busy schedules. It's when we do that, that all the other "things will be added" and put into their correct place of priority... God first, everything else second.

So if you’re not seeking Him first today, what or who have you allowed to become more important? Determining that and then putting those things in the correct priority, after God, will be the best start to your day my friend... and to all those to come.

Heavenly Father, what a blessing it is to meet with you first thing every morning. You are so loving and gracious to reveal yourself to us if we would only seek you. Oh Lord, give us an unquenchable thirst for your Word that reading it and spending time with you would be our greatest priority. It's in your precious name we pray Jesus. Amen.

Happy Running!!!
