All glory to God

"Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think." Ephesians 3:20

Tracy Guerrette, a 37-year-old Maine native, won the Maine Marathon in 2:43:47 Sunday and qualified for the Olympic trials. Upon crossing the finish line, this bold Christian athlete knelt to give thanks to God for the victory. Of this accomplishment she said, "For me, it's such a gift from God to be able to run, I really feel His presence... I was pretty much in prayer the last couple miles, just asking God to give me extra strength and grace. I was just overwhelmed and very thankful."

Isn't it refreshing to see someone giving the glory where it is due? The truth is God deserves the glory for all the good things in our lives (but seldom gets it). Everything we have.. our talents, our possessions and our abilities all come from God and there's nothing we can do apart from "his mighty power at work within us", a power so great that we can "accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think" because of it.

And while God didn't design us all to run a 6-minute mile, he did give us everything we need to fulfill the purpose to which we were called. And for that, may we kneel down to give thanks and then declare "all glory to God" for our victories and successes, no matter how big or small.

Heavenly Father, thank you for the good things you have given each of your believers. Help us to be ever mindful that everything we are, everything we have and everything we can ever accomplish comes from you that we might never claim the glory for ourselves. In all things, may all glory go to you. It's in your precious name we pray Jesus. Amen.

Happy Running!!!
