Turn the page

"Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord," Acts 3:19

Ever heard the phrase "turn the page"? The free dictionary defines it as: to begin to behave in a more positive way after a period of difficulties and/or to stop thinking about or dealing with something. I think that Isaiah 43:18-19 defines the term much better, "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.”

M.S. Lowndes, a Christian writer, sums it up perfectly: Don’t be afraid to keep moving on, For what was before, now has gone, God wants to accomplish so much more, But we need to move forward in the Lord. The point is this, the past is the past. It cannot be changed - dwelling on it only keeps us from changing our future. The bible says that once we accept Christ, we are made new, "This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!" 2 Corinthians 5:17. Talk about turning a page... becoming a new person can be more like turning a chapter! But we CAN do just that through Christ. We can literally put our old life behind us and be given a new beginning (think born again), to be the person God created us to be. We can be a person set free from the sins that held us captive as Romans 6:18 tells us, "Now you are free from your slavery to sin, and you have become slaves to righteous living."

By accepting Christ, you gain the power to change your life. You have the power, through Him, to "turn the page" and rewrite your story free from sin, addiction and anything else keeping you from being a "new person". God is offering that. Will you accept and follow?

Heavenly Father, thank You for loving us so much that You would forgive us of our sins and let us start anew. It's amazing to think that a God so powerful as You loves us so intimately and would be willing to forgive us. I pray that those struggling today would feel your love and know that there is nothing they have done that You would not forgive if they come, repent of their sins and allow you to refresh them. Praise you Jesus for loving us so much. In your precious name we pray Jesus, Amen.

Happy Running!!!
