God never disappoints us

"And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love." Romans 5:5 NLT

On September 6, the organizers of the English Half Marathon in Cheshire, England canceled their 13.1 mile race just six days before the event was to take place saying, "This decision is a difficult one for us to take, as we know that you have dedicated yourself to your training and possibly fundraising over a number of months and to hear this message at the beginning of race week will be a blow to many.” To say it was an epic disappointment would be an understatement with one runner tweeting, "6 days before a race. I think those who entered deserve a clear and thorough explanation of why. "safety reasons" doesn't really explain anything. A real shame as this is a very good race."

And you know, in an imperfect world, there will always be imperfect people and unforeseen and unfair circumstances that will dash our hopes or expectations. It's just a fact. But thankfully, there is One in whom we can place our hope and trust who will never let us down. And this One who is the Creator of the Universe and the Sustainer of our souls is the eternal, immutable and forever faithful God whose promises never change, whose character never wavers and whose perfect love never fails.

And you know, "because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with love," you and I never have to fear that our salvation might be cancelled. And we never, ever have to worry that our hope will “lead to disappointment.” So go ahead and put your trust in Him my friend.... He can be trusted.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the reminder that You are faithful and can always be trusted. Help us to truly grasp that truth Lord that we might serve You with abandon and live free from fear. It's in your precious name we pray Jesus. Amen.

Happy Running!!!
