Canceled

"Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel" Philippians 1:27

Due to weather conditions beyond anyone's control last weekend. both the Disney Half-Marathon and the Mississippi Blues Marathon were canceled leaving thousands of runners very disappointed. And while most of the athletes understood and took it all in stride, many openly expressed their anger and frustration at the turn of events.

You know it's very natural to be discouraged when things don't go the way we planned, but how you and I react to these situations is the very thing that, as Christians, should set us apart-the very thing that others will be watching. Paul, a man who knew firsthand what it was like to encounter disappointments and frustrating circumstances beyond his control, wrote, "Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ." He was telling us that no matter what unexpected disruptions, frustrations, or difficulties come our way, we are to respond with a Christ-like attitude.

So today and every day, "Whatever happens", may you and I strive to imitate that perfect attitude.... patient, understanding and hopeful that others might be drawn to Christ because of it.

Heavenly Father, thank you for the example of Jesus who showed that a Christ-like attitude could and should be kept in every circumstance. In the midst of trials, He was patient. In the midst of suffering, He was hopeful and in the midst of discouragement, He was joyful. May we strive to do the same. It's in your precious name we pray Jesus. Amen.

Happy Running!!!
