That's how I hear You

That's how I hear You

"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands." Psalm 19:1

I love to hear God's voice.   It's all around me.  It's in His creations. It's in His word.   He's as real to me as any thing you can see, touch or feel.  While I may not hear it audibly, there is no denying it.  Every christian, at one time or another though, has wondered whether God has talked to them.  They wonder if maybe they missed it.  If we do hear Him, we question whether the thought was something we made up or maybe just something we wanted to hear.  How can we know for sure?

The bible records God speaking out loud to many people.  He spoke to Moses when he said, " "I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I AM has sent me to you.'""  He spoke to David too, "In the course of time, David inquired of the LORD. "Shall I go up to one of the towns of Judah?" he asked. The LORD said, "Go up." David asked, "Where shall I go?" "To Hebron," the LORD answered." 2 Samuel 2:1.  In fact,he spoke to Cain, Noah, Job, Isaac, Ezekial and Paul too (and many others).

Although most times not audibly, God is still speaking to us today.  He speaks to us through His word. "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17.  He speaks to us through the bible giving us everything we need to know to be saved and to live a life pleasing to Him.  2 Peter 1:3 declares, "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by his own glory and goodness."

He can also speak to us through events as He guides us through life placing people or things in our path at the exact time we need them.   Someone's name may come to mind persuading you to call them at a moment when they need a friend.   Or you may get an uneasy feeling taking the same road to work only to take a different route and avoid an accident. And through the Holy Spirit, our consciences discern what is right and wrong.  It's that feeling of uneasiness when you're doing something you know isn't right.  It's also that feeling of joy when you are immersed in His word!

God is all around us speaking through his creations. Psalm 19:1-4 says, "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world."

Just go for a run.  Breathe in the air, listen to the birds make melody and the trees sing as their branches move to the wind.  Lift your hands in praise and feel His presence as His joy and peace overcome you. That's God speaking!

Heavenly Father, thank you for being such a caring God that you talk to each of us.  Help us to discern your voice and hear your message Lord.  You are amazing and we love to worship you. May Your voice guide us all our days."

Happy Running!!!
