Choose to Rejoice

This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24 ESV

To say that I had a lot to rejoice about over the weekend would be an understatement. I had the blessing of working the Bass Pro Fitness Series expo alongside my sweet husband for two days as both a Race Series Ambassador and also as a marathon pacer which allowed me to interact with scores of individuals that were looking for encouragement, advice, and answers to race day questions. If you know me, you know I love this! Better than that though was the opportunity it brought us to catch up with our running friends (and make new ones) who are like family. And while I completed the marathon on target (something for sure to be happy about) and helped others do the same, I rejoiced most of all in being able to deliver the message God laid on my heart to the other runners at the prerace devotional Bass Pro is so gracious to provide. And the message was this… every day is a gift from God that we should rejoice in.

And you know, this rejoicing or call to joy isn’t dependent upon our circumstances either, whether we have little or much, whether things are going smoothly or we’re in the midst of a trial—because true joy is found in the Lord. Which is the very reason that we should choose to rejoice and be glad in each day knowing that it’s a precious gift that God, Himself, has given us. Which means we can celebrate and enjoy each day no matter what comes our way knowing He is always with us and will one day take us home to spend eternity with Him. Does that make you want to sing and dance or what?

So choose to rejoice in this day and every day hereafter my friend. It’s not only fitting for us to do so as followers of Jesus Christ but will lift your spirits and those of everyone around you; something that’s so needed in our world today.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the joy Your presence brings us. Help us to be thankful for the good things You have given us, and for the trials we face as well knowing they are working for our good. Help us to rejoice in all situations Lord so that others would be drawn to You by the gladness that flows out of us. It’s in your precious name we pray Jesus. Amen.

Happy Running!
