Run with the Wise

“Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.” Proverbs 13:20 ESV

In an article subtitled, "Whether you’re new to running, new to the city, or looking for a new crew, this NYC running club directory can point you in the right direction" posted by Runner's World on Tuesday, the following was said: New York City is the largest city in the country, with 8.4 million people calling one of its five boroughs home. The Big Apple is also home to one of the biggest road races in the world, the New York City Marathon. You shouldn’t be surprised, then, to discover that there are hundreds of running clubs throughout the city. So whether you’re moving to NYC or are looking to join a new running club, we have a comprehensive list of all the running clubs out there. The list is sorted by borough, then by alphabetical order. Each entry links to a club’s website or social media page. So scroll through and find the right crew for your running future!

And you know, when it comes to having a bright future, the Bible tells us that “Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise but the companion of fools will suffer harm.” Which is the very reason you and I would do well to not only choose our running groups carefully but those people who we associate with often, the people we refer to as friends, who are in our inner circle, and who we seek advice from. You see, good companions bring much discernment to our lives and when we choose to associate ourselves with wise men and women, we will grow in wisdom, knowledge and understanding; something that will draw us closer to Christ. On the other hand, foolish companions will corrupt our character and lead us astray.

So choose your close companions very carefully my friend. Make sure they are walking with Christ and showing the fruit of the Spirit so that time spent with them will make you wiser and keep you from harm.

Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding us that the people or groups we choose to spend time with will affect our Christian walk either positively or negatively. Give us the ability to judge them well so that we would ensure our spiritual future is successful. It’s in your precious name we pray Jesus. Amen.

Happy Running!
