not by deeds

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." Ephesians 2:8,9

In a recent Knowridge Science Report, it was determined that the positive benefits of engaging in regular physical activity might just outweigh the negative effects being overweight or obese has on the cardiovascular system in middle-aged and elderly people. The study showed that, compared to normal weight people with high physical activity levels, overweight or obese individuals with comparable high levels of physical activity were no longer at an increased risk of heart disease. "Our results show that physical activity plays a crucial role in the health of middle age to elderly people,” said one author.

You know when it comes to measuring, or weighing, the rewards and benefits of certain activities, many people believe they can do the same with Salvation. Have you ever heard someone say, "I'm a good person so I'm sure I will go to Heaven"? Well what exactly is a good person anyway? Someone whose good deeds outweigh their bad? Thankfully the Bible tells us that we have been saved by grace through our faith in Jesus. It's by no work we have done or could ever do. In fact, doing a million good deeds in the course of a lifetime would not even save us.

So don't be fooled today thinking that you or anyone else will enter Heaven as a "result of works" or being a good person. It is only by believing in Jesus Christ that anyone can be saved.

Heavenly Father, thank you for loving us so much that you would tell us exactly what it takes to have eternal life with you. Help us then to be bold to share that with others that they might not believe the lies this world has told but come to know you that they too might have salvation. May we forever boast that we are sinners saved by grace through faith and not deeds. It's in your precious name we pray Jesus. Amen.

Happy Running!!!
