God is Still Working Miracles

“Then the father realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live.” So he and his whole household believed.” John 4:53 NIV

In an article titled “Runner didn’t know he nabbed ‘invaluable’ find on CA beach — until turning on the news” published by The Sacramento Bee Wednesday, it was reported that Jim Smith took home an object while running on the beach that “looked cool and interesting.” Little did Jim know that it was a mastodon tooth that Wayne Thompson, a paleontologist with the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History, had been frantically searching for. Just days before, Thompson told McClatchy News he came across a woman’s Facebook post, questioning what she may have found near Aptos Creek on Rio Del Mar Beach on Friday, May 26, after someone tagged him in the post. “I took a look at it, and I knew it was a mastodon tooth,” Thompson said. The out-of-town woman, however, did not pick up the tooth, and when Thompson went to search for it, it was gone, he said… “Given its location, Thompson said he didn’t think the tooth would have been washed away with high tide. Rather, he suspected someone plucked it off the beach and took it home. That person was runner Jim Smith who just happened to tune into a news segment about the tooth and decided to donate it. Thompson said such finds are few and far between, with this particular specimen being “exceedingly rare,” as there is “only one other piece of evidence that we have that has surfaced in the last 40 years.”“It’s a miracle it was returned,” he said.

And you know, when it comes to miracles or extraordinary events manifesting divine intervention in human affairs, the second miracle Jesus performed during His time on this earth displayed a faith that is “exceedingly rare.” It’s the story of a “certain royal official whose son lay sick at Capernaum. When this man heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea, he went to him and begged him to come and heal his son, who was close to death.” And this is where it gets good. After Jesus told the man that his son would live, the man took Jesus at His word and departed. He later leaned that his son was healed at the exact time Jesus said, “Go. Your son will live.”

And guess what? God is still in the business of intervening in human affairs today! By faith people are still experiencing miraculous healing. By faith the chains of addiction are being broken and by faith people are being set free from the bondage of sin. So no matter what you’re going through, have faith my friend. Jesus is still on the throne and He is still working miracles.

Heavenly Father, thank You been the same God yesterday, today and forever. Remind us that miracles are taking place by the power of faith each and every day. Lord, I pray that every person who has ever experienced “divine intervention” would not keep it to themselves but tell the world so the lost would be inspired to seek You. It’s in your precious name we pray Jesus. Amen.

Happy Running!
