Go ahead and laugh

"The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him." Psalm 128:7

Sure we all know that running, walking, biking and swimming are great exercise. But did you know that laughter is good exercise too? Yep, it's true. And for all you exercise haters out there, this may be one thing you can do to improve your health that you actually like. Per Healthguide.org, Humor is infectious. The sound of roaring laughter is far more contagious than any cough, sniffle, or sneeze. When laughter is shared, it binds people together and increases happiness and intimacy. Laughter also triggers healthy physical changes in the body. Humor and laughter strengthen your immune system, boost your energy, diminish pain, and protect you from the damaging effects of stress. Best of all, this priceless medicine is fun, free, and easy to use."

It's no wonder then that God, our Healer and Great Physician, was the first to prescribe it. He knew how much it would benefit our souls to unleash a chuckle here and there. The more the better is always the key to getting in shape through laughter because it always produces joy! And Proverbs 17:22 tells us that "A joyful heart is good medicine". And Job 8:21 says, "He will fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouting". Wow! This must mean that one good laugh deserves another. We have joy in Christ bringing laughter to our souls and then causing us to praise Him with shouting. "Then our mouth was filled with laughter And our tongue with joyful shouting;" Psalm 126.2

The great part about this exercise is that it can be done anywhere and doesn't cost a penny. You don't even need a trainer or a manual! And forget that pricey gym membership. Start exercising your diaphragm today and you will be in the shape of your life in no time. And share it with friends - after all He's too good to keep to yourself. In the words of Alistair Bogg - Laughter is good exercise. It's like jogging on the inside. Praise the Lord!

Heavenly Father, thank You for the many things you have given us to make us smile - the cool nights, the changing color of the leaves, running water and all those other things we don't deserve. I pray that we find joy in ALL the things you give us not SOME and that we praise You continually. May our joy be so great that we can't hold back the laughter. May it be contagious to those around us as we live to bring You glory. Thank You Father for the joy in our hearts. In your precious name we pray Jesus, Amen.

Happy Running!!!

Glorious - Martha Munizzi
