Follow a Different Playbook

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 NLT

In an article regarding nutrition published by Runner's World Tuesday, the writer said that with the firehose of nutrition advice at our fingertips, it can be hard to tell the difference between fact and fiction, especially when it comes to nutrition. Intermittent fasting, keto, low-carb, no-sugar, gluten-free, and vegan diets are having a moment right now, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re right for runners—or for you. As a runner, you have different dietary needs than the average American—which means you need to follow a different nutritional playbook. “Runners are extra special,” says Alex Larson, a registered dietitian specializing in endurance athletes. “Because you’re running, strength training, or cross training most days of the week, your nutrition has to support that higher activity level.”

And you know, when it comes to following a different “playbook” than the average American, the Bible is very clear that “all Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” Which means that the Word separates fact from fiction like no other book can, enabling us to live in a way that avoids sin, honors God, and sets us apart as ‘extra special’ people intent on doing what’s truly right, not what’s popular at the moment.

So refuse to follow the ‘firehose of advice’ the world gives on what it means to live a good life my friend. Keep your eyes instead on the pages of the Bible, following the teachings God has laid out for all believers. This is the only way to ensure that you will make it to the finish line.

Heavenly Father, thank You for providing us with the Word that tells us how to live a righteous life, comforts and encourages us, and teaches us how to fight the battles that come our way each and every day. It is truly a priceless Playbook that needs to be read daily and hidden in our hearts. It’s in your precious name we pray Jesus. Amen.

Happy Running!
