We are all Called to Testify

“If you are called to testify about something you have seen or that you know about, it is sinful to refuse to testify, and you will be punished for your sin.” Leviticus 5:1 NLT

In an article titled “Trans runner beat 14K women in London Marathon after running NYC as a man” published Tuesday the following was reported: A transgender runner is under fire for crediting “girl power” for beating nearly 14,000 others in the female category of the London Marathon — just months after racing in New York as a man… The celebratory remarks soon became the latest lightning rod for critics opposed to transgender athletes competing against biological women. Males in the [female] category is UNFAIR for females,” tweeted two-two Olympic marathoner Mara Yamauchi alongside Frank’s interview. “Nearly 14,000 actual females suffered a worse finish position [because] of” Frank, wrote Yamauchi — who said that even when she was “ranked second in the world” as a woman “at least 1300 men ran faster than me.” Mara went on to say, “ This male competed under UK Athletics’ transitional arrangements, but it is still wrong and unfair.”

And you know, when it comes to calling out things that are wrong and unfair (regardless of whether they are legal), every believer is called by God to speak up against injustice and oppression. In fact the Bible gives us this command, “If you are called to testify about something you have seen or that you know about, it is sinful to refuse to testify, and you will be punished for your sin.” Which means choosing to be silent when we should expose evil is wrong. That’s why we must testify to the Truth! And the truth is this… there are only two genders, male and female. Which means biological men should not be competing against women no matter how adamantly they declare themselves to be females. It’s both wrong and unfair.

So if you’re tempted to remain silent today, consider this my friend… if you and I don’t speak up against wrongdoing, it means we are tolerating it, and in essence, supporting it. And it also means that it will continue. So don’t be afraid to publicly declare what you know to be true. Your actions might just encourage others to do the same thing.

Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding us that we can NOT be silent any longer. Cause us to consider that our silence thus far has allowed these injustices to happen in the first place. Forgive us for our apathy Lord and embolden us from this day forward to testify to the Truth. It’s in your precious name we pray Jesus. Amen.

Happy Running!
