The Benefits of Walking with God

“This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God.” Genesis 6:9 NIV

In an article titled, "The Perks of Walking a Mile a Day, According to Experts" published by Runner's World on Wednesday, the writer said, "Setting healthy goals, like walking a mile a day, can help to increase your fitness level and keep you moving. And that can also serve as a foundation for bigger fitness gains in the future!" The writer went on to explain that "Walking a mile a day can be a smart benchmark for movement. But, this is most powerful for your health when you can do it consistently, says Tony Gentilcore, C.S.C.S., co-owner of Core Collective located in Brookline, Massachusetts. “One day where you walk a mile doesn’t seem like much, but over the course of a week, month, year...that all adds up,” he says. “There’s a lot of empowerment and motivation that can be drawn from that.'"

And while there are ample perks to walking a mile a day, there are even more benefits to gain from walking faithfully with God. This was something Noah was known for. In fact, Noah did it so consistently, deliberately and devoutly that he was described as, "a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time.” But what does it mean to walk faithfully with God? Imagine that you and your best friend are walking together down a peaceful trail. You stay close to one another as you talk, laugh, listen and share your hearts. And you enjoy this relationship and camaraderie so much that you yearn and make time for it each and every day... never satisfied to walk any other way or with anyone else. This is what it means my friend!

So today, would you say that you are walking faithfully with God? Is He your greatest desire? And do you long to be with Him over anything else? Noah did and was rewarded with a purposeful life and eternal salvation... the same thing God has promised to every believer who chooses to walk "faithfully" by his side.

Heavenly Father,  thank you for your Word that is essential for us us to walk in unison with You. The pages are so alive with your Presence. Lord, may we read them daily that we might forever faithfully walk with You and that we might bask in the benefits of doing so. It's in your precious name we pray Jesus. Amen.

Happy Running!!!
