"The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God." 2 Corinthians 4:4
Yesterday's weather report for the early morning warned that the fog was the "worst of the year" offering very limited visibility. True to its description, the heavy mist made it nearly impossible to even see approaching headlights from a distance. Extra vigilance was certainly called for by me and any other runner out on their morning run. Unfortunately, the world can also fit the description of having only limited visibility. Blinded by things like following false (worldly) teachings or the pursuit of fame, money or worldly possessions, many people are unknowingly making Satan their god.
2 Corinthians 4:4 tells us that Satan is the "god of this age" and "has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God." You see the light of the gospel is revealed to all those who believe. It is Satan's work to deceive and lead unbelievers away from that light-to convince them to follow their own pursuits and path that they believe will lead them to happiness. And, sadly enough, he is having much success at it.
Soren Kierkegaard, a Danish philosopher and religious author, wrote "There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn't true. The other is to refuse to accept what is true." May we, as Christians, strive to do neither and lead unbelievers to the same objective.
Heavenly Father, thank you for your Holy Spirit that guides us to your will and warns us when we wander away. May we resist the temptations of the world inviting us to be like it knowing it can only offer temporal happiness. May we instead pursue Truth each and every day knowing that the one true God offers the eternal happiness of Salvation. It's in your precious name we pray, Jesus. Amen.
Happy Running!!!
