“The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. He sent his servants to call those he had invited to the banquet, but they refused to come.” Matthew 22:1-2 BSB
In an article titled “Dirt Circus to draw top runners” published yesterday by the Arkansas Democrat, the following was reported: A field of top runners is expected for the Dirt Circus 10K this weekend. The Bentonville Dirt Circus 10K and 5K races will be held Saturday. The new event is hosted by UltraSignup, Rush Running Company, Visit Bentonville and Trailblazers. The Dirt Circus 10K is a challenging course that will wind through Handcut Hollow, a system of hand-built trails developed and maintained by Trailblazers… The course is intended to be rugged, technical and unforgiving, according to a news release. The writer went on to say that the event is geared toward bringing in professional trail runners and trail running enthusiasts with a $10,000 prize being offered for the 10k winner. Not a bad deal for running 6.2 miles is it?
And you know, when it comes to events that might attract the elite, the Bible gives us the “parable of the wedding banquet.” The simple story tells us that, although the party was for the King’s Son and came with the greatest prize (which meant it was one whose invitation should have been sought after), those who were invited “refused to come.” Can you just imagine that? God sent His one and only Son into the world, and the very people who should have celebrated His coming rejected Him, bringing judgment upon themselves. As a result, the kingdom of heaven was opened up to anyone and everyone who would set aside their own righteousness and by faith accept the righteousness God provided through Christ.
So if you have not accepted the invitation to come to Jesus, I pray that you will do it today my friend. It will not only be the best decision you will ever make but will ensure you don’t miss out on being a part of the most epic event of all time.
Heavenly Father, thank You for extending the invitation to everyone to come to You for the forgiveness of sins and eternal life that only Jesus’ death on the cross could have provided for all those who accept Him as their Savior. Lord, help us to be bold in urging all those who have not made the decision to follow You to do so before it’s too late… before the door is shut, never to be opened again. It’s in your precious name we pray Jesus. Amen.
Happy Running!
