"Even at that hour of the night, the jailer cared for them and washed their wounds. Then he and everyone in his household were immediately baptized. He brought them into his house and set a meal before them, and he and his entire household rejoiced because they all believed in God." Acts 16:33-34 NLT
"Went to church this morning and towards the end of the service I went to the stage and knelt down on the steps and asked God to remove the darkness of hate from my heart so I could see the light of his love for I was ashamed of turning my back on Him to begin with. I asked Him to lead me through the remainder of my life and allow me to do his works and spread his word. Afterwards me and the pastor talked and he's preparing a baptism." Wow! These were the words posted Sunday night by my friend, Joseph Berry, a fellow runner who made the decision to be baptized. And do you know who he said influenced his decision more than anyone? His yoga instructor. A woman who lived out her Christian walk and lovingly told him about Jesus. Do you just love that or what? And you know, the way a person lives really can influence someone to follow Christ. Consider the story of Paul and Silas. After casting out a demon in a slave girl, they were severely beaten and thrown in prison with a jailer assigned to guard them who would have faced death if they had broken free. While Paul and Silas were singing late that night, there was an earthquake that flung the doors of the prison wide open. But guess what? Paul and Silas stayed put. The jailer, who was ready to kill himself thinking they had escaped, was so moved by their Christian walk that he said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" He wanted what they had! Paul and Silas shared the Gospel and because of that the jailer "and everyone in his household were immediately baptized." Do you just love that or what?
So knowing the way we live has the power to draw people to Jesus or to lead them away, may you and I make the decision each and every day to live as ambassadors for Christ. To be bold in sharing the Gospel by our actions and by our words wherever we are that the lost would come to know Him because of it.
Heavenly Father, thank You for people who aren't ashamed or afraid to share their faith. Help us to be those people Lord. Help us to understand that we are your representatives and called to live our lives worthy of being called ambassadors for Christ. Help us to live out our Christian walk in a way that shows we love You and belong to You. It's in your precious name we pray Jesus. Amen.
Happy Running!!!
