While walking with a friend over the weekend, my friend related the story of some recent mishaps and misfortunes that had occurred. Ironically, she said, the trouble started soon after she and her husband made the decision to increase their tithes and dive deeper into their newly planted church to help it grow. "I just know we're under some sort of spiritual attack," she said. "We should have expected it."
And you know, she's right. She should have expected it. We should all expect attacks when we decide to do greater things for the Kingdom. You see, while the devil is always on the prowl, he is even more so when believers are embarking on a new spiritual endeavor, especially one that will save souls. Consider Jesus. Knowing that Christ was about to begin His ministry and change the world, the devil attacked. But Jesus boldly pressed on through this spiritual onslaught and "began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.'"
So if you are facing a spiritual battle today my friend, hold tight. Tighten up your armor and prepare for the fight. And then, in the example of Jesus, press on, never give up, and claim victory in the name of the Lord.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the reminder that we will always face opposition when we are working to serve You. And especially when we decide to step it up a notch. Help us to be ready for these attacks that we might better battle them and be prepared to fight for victory. It's in your precious name we pray Jesus. Amen.
