Why

"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:9

Bigogno

"I never ask God ‘why.’ I just thank Him and I never take any day for granted. If you sit there and ask ‘why,’ you’re going to drive yourself nuts.” Those were the words spoken by Michael Bigogno who, after battling to recover from a brain injury that nearly left him dead (doctors gave him a 10 percent chance of survival), crossed the finish line of the IRONMAN Lake Placid on July 23. Throughout his long recovery which stemmed from a skateboarding accident in 2012, this Eureka, Missouri man displayed a faith we would all do well to emulate-trusting God so much that the "why" didn't matter.

Have you ever noticed, though, that when bad things happen the first thing most of us want God to do is tell us "why"? But the Bible is very clear that we weren't created to know or understand everything saying, "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." So while we may never know "why" bad things happen to us this side of heaven, we can rest assured that God does and will be with us as we go through these trials.

So may we, like Michael, never ask God "why" but choose to trust his plan for our lives instead. And then let us then thank him for the promise given to us in Deuteronomy 33:6, "for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

Heavenly Father, thank you for promising to be with us through the tests and trials of life. Lord, help us to trust your plan especially when we don't understand the "why" part of it and to never take one day for granted. It's in your precious name we pray Jesus. Amen.

Happy Running!!!
