"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7
Last May, Kate Landau, now 40, made her debut in the marathon shattering the course record at Tacoma City by more than four minutes with a time of 2:43:51. Would you believe, though, that just a few years ago she was fighting to overcome her battle with anorexia? Unable to run at all during that time, she said, "I was majorly depressed and majorly anxious." That was until Landau says she put herself in the care of a physician and psychologist where she shared, "I gave up control. I told them 'tell me what to do. I have no idea how to make myself better.'" Getting help was exactly what Kate needed as she is now healthy and set to compete in her first race as a masters runner in the Portland Marathon on October 9 where she is aiming for a 2:40 finish.
So today, no matter what you're struggling with or what addiction you might be harboring that makes you feel as if you have control, just stop. Put yourself in the care of the Great Physician, give up control, and once and for all cast those cares on the One who "cares for you."
Heavenly Father, thank you for the invitation to cast all our cares on you that we might find peace. Help us to give control of our lives to you that we might have a future free from these addictions and disorders that come with trying to control our lives on our own. It's in your precious name we pray, Jesus. Amen.
Happy Running!!!
