Don't be deceived

"Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life." Galatians 6:7,8

Imagine trying on a new pair of running tights and then looking into the dressing room mirror to find that they made you look about 10 pounds thinner. You would probably buy them right? Well that is exactly what retailers are hoping for. In a Rossen Report aired yesterday a company called The Skinny Mirror has designed and is selling a 'new mirror' that will make every shopper appear to be five to 10 pounds thinner. Pretty deceiving huh? But, in an attempt to justify their so-called deception, the company owner claimed that they were not deceiving anyone but merely using 'clever marketing'.

You know the bible warns you and me to not be fooled into thinking there are no consequences for our actions when it says, "Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that he will also reap." Regardless of how we try and justify the things we do,  this is the truth... every action has results and you and I will reap what we sow. If we plant seeds to fulfill our own desires and obtain wealth, we will reap heartache, sorrow, regret and corruption. But if we plant to please God, we will reap peace, joy, contentment and everlasting life. There's no 'clever marketing' needed for the truth.

So what kind of seeds are you planting today?  

Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of eternal life and the peace and joy that come through a life of following you. Help us to not be deceived by others nor try and trick anyone for our gain but to sow seeds for the Kingdom that we might encourage others to do the same and reap the benefit of eternal life. It's in your precious name we pray, Jesus. Amen.
