"And concerning Israel, Isaiah the prophet cried out, “Though the people of Israel are as numerous as the sand of the seashore, only a remnant will be saved. For the LORD will carry out his sentence upon the earth quickly and with finality.” Romans 9:27,28
Just recently I discovered a website that offered a significant discount on running shoes. As you might expect, I immediately shared the good news with several of my running buddies. As I did though, I couldn't help but think about how many of us find it easy to share the details of deals and discounts with our friends (and even strangers) but remain silent when it comes to sharing the most important 'deal' of a lifetime.
In Romans 9, we are given this warning, "For the LORD will carry out his sentence upon the earth quickly and with finality." Did you get that part? Judgement upon this earth will be quick and it will be final. There will be no second chances and we are told that, "Though the people of Israel are as numerous as the sand on the seashore, only a remnant will be saved." The use of the term remnant tells you and me that only a very small percentage of people will enter into Heaven. Knowing that then, where is our sense of urgency? Why are we not telling others about Jesus Christ, the only way by which we may be saved and the biggest 'deal' anyone could ever benefit from?
While the bible is clear that no one knows the day or time when Christ will return, we do know that it will be when we least expect it and, when it happens, there will be no time left to heed the warning of the prophet Isaiah. So may we be bold Christians and share with our friends and strangers the 'deal' of a lifetime. Do it today! There may not be a moment to spare.
Heavenly Father, thank you for your Word that is so clear that you are indeed coming back at a time when we least expect it and that our judgement upon the earth, and upon us, will be quick and final. As Christians, may we take this warning seriously and love others enough to urgently share the Gospel with them that they may join the remnant that will be saved. It's in your precious name we pray, Jesus. Amen.
Happy Running!!!
