Spend it wisely

"Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. " Ephesians 5:15, 16

Would you agree with me that if a person really wants something, they will lay aside those things they view as less important to pursue the thing they really want? 1 Timothy 4:8 clearly tells us that physical training is of value and spiritual training is of even greater value. That means these things are important! But the number one reason people give why they can't exercise or spend time in the Word is that they just don't have the time. Wouldn't it be more appropriate to admit that we just don't make the time? Not for that anyway.

When it comes to our use of time, scripture gives us this warning, "Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time..." Consider this, according to Nielsen's Total Audience Report, Americans aged 18 and older spend more than 11 hours a day watching TV, listening to the radio or using electronic devices. Doesn't leave much time for exercise or bible study does it?

So how do we best use our time then?  John C. Maxwell sums it up this way, "People who use time wisely spend it on activities that advance their overall purpose in life." Our purpose my friends is simple... to glorify God in our actions, words and deeds. Pursue that and you will find you have more time than ever before.

Heavenly Father, thank you for loving us even when we put things before you. Help us to rekindle our love, passion and yearning for you and your word that it might be the thing we pursue before all else. May we lay aside those things keeping us from viewing you as most important. And may we then use that time best by training our bodies, minds and hearts to grow stronger in you. It's in your precious name we pray, Jesus. Amen.

Happy Running!!!
