Proper form

"Now when Daniel knew that the document was signed, he entered his house (now in his roof chamber he had windows open toward Jerusalem); and he continued kneeling on his knees three times a day, praying and giving thanks before his God, as he had been doing previously." Daniel 6:10

When it comes to running, proper form and posture is important. Good posture places you in an alignment where stress is properly distributed to the intended muscles and ligaments allowing them to work more efficiently allowing you to run faster. A good form will not only decrease your risk of joint discomfort and injury but, according to the Kansas Chiropractic Foundation, " When your muscles, joints and ligaments are working as intended, your vital organs are able to remain in proper position and the nervous system is able to function normally," Wow, your mother was right when she told you not to slouch!

The book of Daniel tells the story of how important posture can be for your spiritual life as well. When King Darius issued a decree that "anyone who prays to any god or human being during the next 30 days" (v.7) except to him, would be thrown into the lion's den , Daniel assumed the correct posture... he got down on his knees. In fact, the bible tells us that "he continued kneeling on his knees three times a day, praying and giving thanks to God". Because of his constant and good form, Daniel was not only lifted out of the lions den, but "no wound was found on him because he had trusted in his God." (v.23)

Maybe it's time for a form check today? While you're working to perfect and maintain your running form, don't forget the best posture for your life is always on your knees.

Heavenly Father, thank you for being such a faithful God to Daniel and giving us an example of what faith, prayer and commitment to you can bring to our lives. May we all strive to be a faithful servant to you, an unwilling to sacrifice prayer and praise to you no matter the consequence. It's in your precious name we pray, Jesus. Amen.

Happy Running!!!
