I need you now

"O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water." Psalm 63:1

On the front of my running shirts is this motto: one more breath, one more step, one more mile, finish line... it's a reminder that in a long race, and in life, sometimes the finish line or getting through a hard period is just too much to handle if you look too far ahead. At times, all we can handle is today. We've all had those moments- they could be the result of divorce, death, stress or any number of things. And those are the times we just need to make it through the next hour or the day... the next mile or the last .2 mile. In Matthew 6:11, Jesus tells us to pray, "Give us this day our daily bread.". He didn't say to pray for bread for a month or for the week. He didn't even say for two days. He knew that we weren't capable of getting through even one day (this day) without Him.

Isaiah 33:2 says, "LORD, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress." Be our strength every morning? Give us our daily bread? Are you getting this? He desires us to spend time with Him every day. God never promised us a life free from pain. In fact He said, "Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world." John 16:33. But He did promise to be with us through it all when He said, "And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:20.

Sometimes, when just getting through the next hour is all you can do... it's okay. Pray again for the strength for another... and then another... and then another. You will make it through the day with Christ beside you - one second, one minute, one hour at a time. But you will make it.

Heavenly Father, thank You for being with us through the difficult times in life. Remind us that we only need strength for the day and that You are the only one that can provide it. Remind us also that You are there in the times we need strength for the second, minute or hour we don't think we can go on. Thank You for being there Lord. In your precious name we pray Jesus, Amen.

Happy Running!!!
