Be alert
"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." 1 Peter 5:8
There was a video that went viral yesterday of a four year old boy who was saved by the family cat after he was attacked by the neighbor's dog. The boy was riding his bicycle in his driveway, seemingly safe, when the dog came out of nowhere viciously attacking him without cause. Thank God for the family cat who chased the dog away. It makes me sick to think of what might have happened otherwise.
1 Peter 5:8 tells us that "the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." He's warning us to watch out for Satan who, like a lion, looks for victims who are alone or not alert. Job 1:7 says, "The Lord said to Satan, "Where have you come from?" Satan answered the Lord, "From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it." Satan has been evil since his rebellion against God and considers us, God's children, his enemies. Simply said, he hates us with a passion. He wants to destroy us, our families and our children. And he will use any tactics necessary to do it-he will stop at nothing to ruin us.
James 4:7 says, "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." And Ephesians 4:26-27 warns us, "do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not give the devil an opportunity. " We must be careful to stay in the Word and resist temptation. Take the time, every day to read God's word and grow closer to Him. And pray constantly. "Prayer is a shelter to the soul, a sacrifice to God and a scourge to the devil."-Thomas Brooks. Pray for wisdom and discernment to recognize these attacks and for strength to fight and overcome them. "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Ephesians 6:10-12
Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us Your word to fight back when Satan tries to destroy us. Help us to constantly be on guard and ready to fight when an attack comes. As Christians, we should expect and prepare for these attacks as we grow closer to you knowing the victory is through You. We pray protection over us and our families as we live to serve You and only You. In your precious name we pray Jesus, Amen.
Happy Running!!!
A very powerful song!!!
In times designed to blind the lines and fade away
People day-to-day losing sight and Lord we pray
That you would bring the change that we seek in Jesus’ Name
Separate unto Yourself a people un-ashamed-SHACHA
