Unanswered Prayers
"And we can be confident that He will listen to us whenever we ask Him for anything in line with His will. And if we know He's listening when we make our requests , we can be sure the He will give us what we ask for." 1 John 5:14-15
I've heard it said that "Prayer is not getting your will in Heaven, it's getting God's will on earth."
Have you ever prayed and prayed for something you just knew had to be God's will for your life and the prayer was "unanswered"? If we're being honest, I'm sure we can all answer yes to that question. It's an amazing thing when prayers are answered isn't it? Or should I say when God answers "yes"? Rest assured that God answers every prayer that is lifted to Him. Sometimes, though, he answers "no" or wait". Those are the answers we pretend we don't hear, the ones we sometimes can't bear to hear. It seems easier to say they're "unanswered" doesn't it? Oh, the questions and doubts that flood our mind and heart when this happens! God, where are you? Are you listening to me? Can you hear me?
If we are to pray according to His will, what does that mean? It's praying for things that honor and glorify God. It's also praying in accordance with what the Bible reveals His will to be. The better we understand God's word, the better we will know what to pray for. And the better we know what to pray for, the more often God will answer "yes" to our requests. John 15:7, "But if you stay joined to me and my words remain in you, you may ask any request that you like, and it will be granted."
By staying in a "relationship" with Christ, our will will automatically come into line with His as we seek to be more like Him. When we are "joined" to Him, He will be directing our paths and we will be running the race together pursuing the same goal. Your requests will then begin to mirror what God wants to do in your life and the lives of those around you. It's when we're "joined" with Him that we can know He is listening to us and will hear our prayers. So.... "Always be joyful. Keep on praying." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17
Heavenly Father, thank you for your Word as a guide for our lives. I pray that we "join" closer to you and that your words remain in us. Help us to pray in accordance to your will for our lives and help us to better understand your will. In your precious name Jesus, Amen.
Happy Running!!!!
If it's a test of faith, I don't want to fail. If it's His will, I can't fail.
