“For "every one, without exception, who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’” Romans 10:13 WMT
In a story shared by Runner’s World last week, it was reported that Massachusetts high school senior Rhiannon Vos was not allowed to run in a state championship meet on Thursday, June 1 despite having run a qualifying race at a district meet the week before. It seems the school’s athletic director mistakenly submitted the wrong time. Despite the school admitting the error to the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA), the governing body would not budge on its decision. Vos’s school even reached out to state representative Steven Xiarhos, asking for help persuading the MIAA to make an exception for the runner, who by the facts, had earned her spot at the state championship. When Xiarhos asked the organization why, even after the school admitted the mistake, Vos was banned from the competition, he was told, “If they make an exception for one, they have to for someone else.”
And you know, when it comes to mistakes, two things are certain… we will all make them and we will all reap the consequences from someone else making them at one point or another without exception. Thankfully though, “without exception,” every person “who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” That means no matter what a person has done, they can be forgiven and set free. By humbling themselves before the Lord and saying, “God I’ve made a lot of mistakes and I’m sorry. Please forgive me. I choose this day to turn from my transgressions and to turn to You,” they can receive the eternal life promised to all those who accept Jesus as their Savior.
So if you haven’t made the decision to follow Jesus Christ, I urge you to do so today my friend—because without exception, those who reject Jesus will be banned from heaven and thrown into the darkness where there will weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding us that as long as a person has breath they can turn to You and be given eternal life. Remind us Lord that there are no second chances once we pass from this life to the next so that we will feel an urgency to tell others about Jesus… the One who can take our mistakes and turn them into something good. It’s in your precious name we pray Jesus. Amen.
Happy Running!
