"How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!"" Isaiah 52:7
When it comes to choosing the proper pair of running shoes, the selection might leave you feeling as if the room was spinning. Neutral, stability, pronation, heel striker, trail shoes ... who makes up these words anyway and what does it all mean?!! It means you need to research your needs before buying a shoe. All runners are biomechanically different and what works for one may leave another with aches, pains and a missing toenail (or two). Here are 5 tips that will help:
1. Visit a local running store to have your gait analyzed based on your foot type and biomechanics.
2. Choose which feel is right for you.
3. Make sure you have a half to a full thumb’s nail length from your big toe to the end of the shoe.
4. Before buying, take a short run around the store to test the fit, function and comfort before you make your final purchase.
5. To prevent injuries replace your shoes every 300 to 400 miles depending on the surface that you run. http://running.competitor.com/2012/02/shoes-and-gear/top-5-shoe-buying-tips-for-runners_40880
Find the shoes that are right for you. Lace them up and get moving. How will they know if no one tells them? Are you waiting for someone else to do it? Let us be the ones to proclaim peace, bring good tidings and say to others "Your God Reigns!" In our words, actions and deeds, right NOW is the time for us to do something!
Heavenly Father, thank you for equipping us with everything we need to share the Gospel with a world in desperate need of hearing it. Whether it be by showing compassion to a neighbor or helping a total stranger, let us be people on the move... constantly striving to be a light to others. Remind us that we were bought with a price and that this life is not our own. May we spend our lives in service to you. It's in your precious name we pray, Jesus. Amen.
Happy Running!!!
