Saturday was the Yeti Set Run trail race in El Dorado Springs, Mo. It's the first in a 3 race series. What a blessing the day was. Six of us girls went up on Friday night and stayed at the Super 8. We had so much fun!!! We hung out and talked like teenagers til bedtime at 9 lol! Then we got up early and drove to the race. We jammed out to Mandisa on the trip and made it there with plenty of time to spare.
The day could not have been more beautiful. The course was challenging and very pretty. There was a lake and several water crossings. It was a 20k consisting of four 5k loops. As the weather warmed up, the ground thawed causing quite a mess of mud... which made it more fun and much harder. There's something about being alone and running that allows God to speak louder. Running seems to be the only way i can quiet my soul. That's why I enjoy it so much. It allows me to worship with no distractions, something I am unable to do any other time. I found myself thanking Him over and over for the day He provided and my amazing friends that we there to share the day.
So, God willing, we will do this again for the Forrest Gump Challenge in March!!
I am a runner striving, as the apostle Paul wrote in Colossians 3:17, to (joyfully) do everything, whether by words or actions, "in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."

Wow! Another cold day today. 4 degrees. Made me realize how important each run is regardless of whether they are memorable. They are a lesson in pursuing the goal regardless of weather, obstacles or circumstances. I realize that if I am to be a witness for Christ and an influence on others, I have to follow Him regardless. So, if I am to complete the races I need to run in order to share His word, I have to put in the work. And I am the only one who can do this! It's an honor to serve Him but something that has to be done with my whole, heart, mind, soul and body. Realizing this makes it easier to put on my running shoes on days when I feel like I'd rather stay in bed. Or when I have too many aches and pains (lingering Piriformis Syndrome and Sciatica). I know He's waiting for me. He is my running partner, you know?

Coldest running weather all year. 4 degrees on the windchill! Thank God I've learned (through trial and error) how to dress for it. Got in 7 miles so not a bad day. Looking forward to the Yeti, Set, Run trail run Saturday and praying the temperature gets into the 30s. That would be good.
Have a million things to do today before picking up the kids at school and then off to work.

Today's run
Wow. Since the weather is so beautiful-65 degrees, for January, I thought I had better get in a long run. My last one was the Northface 50k in November so I was feeling rather lazy and unmotivated. Did 15 miles of hills and gravel on the Devils Elbow loop. Feeling so much more motivated and ready for the January 19th trail run. Enjoyed the scenery and the prayer time.
Tomorrows forecast- 30s with snow and sleet. Yep... ready for that too:)!!
